In “The secret of my beauty”, Alfons philosophically addresses the profound questions of life: with journalistic meticulousness, he explores the relationship between man, nature and the ticket machines of the Deutsche Bahn railway company. And he explains the connection between Catholicism and the naked back view of a certain “Fanny”. Above all, he tells the story of the little ALFONS, who is banished to a farm for two months – to get some healthy air. Luckily he finds Augustine there. And during their evening star gazing, the old farmer and the nine-year-old boy from the city talk about the small and great questions of the universe.

Buying local, seasonal produce and keeping tradition alive – these are the core goals of the “German-Danish apple voyage". During the apple voyage, several sailing boats sail across the Flensburg Firth to be loaded with traditional apple varieties, which are then “flogged” along the Danish Firth between Gråsten and Kollund and, on the German side, between Flensburg and Glücksburg. All four locations host a large range of community events, inviting visitors to experience the cross-border apple voyage tradition and enjoy the diversity of the region with all of their senses.

Gråsten: 12 to 14 October

Kollund: 13 October

Flensburg: 14 and 15 October

Glücksburg: 13 October

The programme will be announced in summer 2017!

“Diversity without borders – the German-Danish apple voyage on the Flensburg Firth” is financed by KursKultur with the support of partners from the Sønderjylland-Schleswig region, the Danish Ministry of Culture and the Schleswig-Holstein Ministry of Justice, Culture and European Affairs. This project is funded by the European Fund for Regional Development.

The hard core of the Flensburg sailing scene just can’t stay ashore on the second Christmas holiday. Regardless of the weather, Admiral Edward Vernon – called “Old Grog” – who in 1740 was the first to mix hot water, sugar and rum, is commemorated on 26 December each year. The award for the most beautiful Flensburger Grog water boiler traditionally takes place before the start. The fleet procession takes you across the German-Danish border along the Great Ochseninsel.

Everyone is invited to the sailing and celebrations on the second Christmas holiday at 11.00 am so long as they show up at the decking of the Flensburger Museumshafen with a bottle of rum in hand.

Changes and errors reserved.
