Discover the natural beauty of the Baltic on foot

If you like a bit if variation when hiking, the Flensburg Firth holiday region is the right place for you. Our Baltic coast boasts impressive escarpments, lush forests, countless beaches and many ways to discover the beautiful maritime landscape on foot: from the rustic shoreline path to the chic boulevard. Surrounded by water, this attractive hilly landscape and its many lakes provide the ideal conditions for hiking. In Denmark, wonderful panoramic views of the Flensburg Firth can be taken in nearly all along the Gendarme Path (“Gendarmstien”), making it a perfect place to explore. Its German counterpart is the Fördesteig.

Hike on the Fördesteig

Are you the outdoors type? Then leave all of the chaos of everyday life behind and set out on the idyllic paths of the Fördesteig. The trail hugs the firth for 95 km, from the Danish border all the way to Kappeln, by the Schlei. In four legs, this trail takes you from Wassersleben to Flensburg (~5 km), Flensburg to Glücksburg (~12 km), Glücksburg to Holnis (~10 km), and Holnis to Langballigau (~10 km). Lodging includes a delicious breakfast for you to enjoy before embarking on the next leg. The last leg is from Holnis to Langballigau. Wind down at the end of the journey and reflect upon your experience with a freshly tapped “Flens” beer while enjoying the view of the Flensburg Firth.

Package includes: 3 x nights in a holiday rental/hotel, 3 x breakfast, 3 x dinner, 1 x glass of “Flens” (0.3 l), hiking map for the Fördesteig (1 map per room), bus schedules, maps & information material
